Board Members profiles:
Paul Smart – Chairman:
Brings to the TSBI Board an understanding of how small business operates and the many pitfalls that owners of small businesses can encounter from his extensive experience and previous roles in the printing and science sectors.
With an operations and manufacturing background, Paul has worked in the corporate arena and run his own businesses. He has specialised in business development and networking and has strong experience in work-flow design and optimised cost control. Paul also advises on staffing and multi-tasking methods.
David Gregory – CEO of The Small Business Institute (TSBI) and the Small Business Mentoring Service Inc. (SBMS)
Brings to the TSBI Board experience including roles with advisory panels for the Victorian Bushfire Recovery and Reconstruction Authority (VBRRA), Adult Community and Further Education (ACFE), The Cancer Council and many others. He has an extensive background in both the corporate arena where he has worked both nationally and internationally and in the small business arena where he has owned and run several successful businesses.
His role as the CEO of SBMS has seen the organisation grow to now deliver over 5000 mentoring sessions to small business every year and to open a division in NSW.
As CEO of TSBI, David has coordinated the development of the Institute and been a driving force behind creating programs that truly help small businesses to become more successful. au.linkedin.com/in/djgregory
Major strengths include, IT, financial analysis and cash flow management. Also has extensive experience in commercialisation, capital raising and overseas expansion.
He is the Founder and CEO of Secure Returns a successful internet start up business that has more than 9000 active users. He is also a Director and Mentor with a number of IT companies
Bruce holds a specific interest and skills in the area of personal productivity – setting up systems to get the most out of each day.
After spending many years in the corporate world Bruce has set up his own consultancy business and spent three years working closely with many businesses impacted by the 2009 Victorian bushfires – helping them get their businesses back up and running as part of the SBMS Disaster Recovery team.
He joined the TSBI Board with a focus to provide training and support to Small Business.
Anthony held a career in the corporate arena where he worked his way through a variety of Sales, Management, Marketing and General Management roles, often with State, National and/or International responsibilities.
He then created his own life skills and business development consultancy specialising in strategic planning, practical marketing and business start-ups.
He both uses and teaches many easy to learn, simple to use and highly cost effective ethical business/marketing tools drawn from his own real life experience and from the significant training he has received in Personal Development, General Management, Marketing, Strategic Planning and OH&S. He brings a diverse range of skills to the TSBI Board.
Anthony holds qualifications in Management, Training & Assessment, is a registered business coach/mentor, a ROQUE facilitator, the author of 3 business related books and a presenter for the Small Business Victoria Workshops & Seminars program.
